About me

I have been a classroom teacher for the past 21 years (20 of them at Watkins Mill High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland).  I currently teach 11th and 12th grade International Baccalaureate History and Psychology.  In addition to teaching, I am also the Resource Teacher (Department Chair) of the social studies department at my school.

In addition to teaching, I have a passion for travel and cultural exchange.  My travels have taken me to over 30 countries around the world.  As a Teachers for Global Classrooms Fellow, not only was I able to travel to the Philippines, but I was able to participate in a true cultural exchange which has resulted in a change in my philosophy and implementation of how I teach, as well as opening the door to cultural and collaborative exchange with the school that I visited in the Philippines and Watkins Mill.
